TEACHER TRAINING + ACCREDITATION

4th YEAR GATE

Students who have completed 4 years training with Rowan Jacqueline and Spiderflower are required to move through what is called their 4th Year Gate.

This is a point in a students development where a good foundation should be in place, and a thorough review of all training and study completed up until this point in time is completed.

The 4th Year Gate is a bespoke, two-way process, tailored around how many modules a student has completed with Rowan Jacqueline and Spiderflower. It works to explore how a student sees their creative path progressing within this work, should they continue.

The 4th Year Gate can signal a time where the working relationship with Rowan Jacqueline and / or Spiderflower is complete and it's time for a student to move on, or it can signal that it's time to move into deeper training and begin to serve others through teaching.

A student may request to enter their 4th Year Gate or Rowan Jacqueline / Spiderflower will present this before moving on to further training.

The 4th Year Gate usually takes around 6 months to complete and is conducted through:

  • Development and delivery of a dedicated project by the student

  • Written assignments

  • Conversation

  • Mentoring

In action, The 4th Year Gate works to assess what the students understanding of completed training is, at the same time as consolidating what they know in order to ensure foundation is firm.  Through this process we explore next steps, and consider carefully if Teacher Training is right for them as advanced levels of study are extremely demanding.

Should a student want to enter Teacher Training it is essential that they can demonstrate a clear ability to carry the work to a high standard and a desire to continue working as a team, along with demonstrating a clear understanding of Spiderflower's principles in:

  • Creative practice

  • Technique

  • Working Structures

  • Ethos

PRICES ARE BESPOKE AND DEPEND ON HOURS AND LOCATION.

PLEASE REFER TO PRICES IN MENTORING + TUITION AS A GUIDE.

A student must pass through their 4th Year Gate in order

to qualify for entry into Teacher Training.

ACCREDITATION

Students who want to work through and/or teach Spiderflower's structures and techniques directly must move through Teacher Training and gain accreditation.

Teacher Training is an intensive and demanding training. There is no set start date. It is bespoke, and works closely with each persons unique talents and gifts on an individual basis on a one to one basis or in very small groups.

To train as a teacher, a student must complete 4 separate levels of study.  Each level usually takes one year - but timing has to be flexible and a student will only complete when they show a thorough grasp of all elements and their application within that cycle of teaching.

As teachers complete a level of training, they then move on to practice that particular level under supervision. When a year of supervision is complete, they are then accredited to teach to that level.

Accredited Teachers carry certification, their supervision continues on a more relaxed basis while their practice evolves and their training is continually refreshed. Results of their development and research are shared collectively through ongoing membership.

Practical contribution to the work will need to be high and is important to the learning process, but must be balanced with financial investment.

Full details of modules (that can be designed to work around your schedule) and pricing are discussed fully when a 4th Year Gate has been completed and on formal application to enter Teacher Training.
