ROWAN JACQUELINE

Rowan Jacqueline is a British actor and filmmaker.

Her independent work is dedicate to pioneering

earth-engaged performance as a fine art.

Rowan trained at Rose Bruford College and holds a BA Hons in Theatre Arts (1992). She went on to work as a theatre actor after graduation with particular focus on classical and physical forms to include roles such as Titania, (dir. Greg Thompson), Emily Brontë (dir. Sam Dowling) and Masha for Perpetual Motion's Russian Tour of 'Sisters' (dir. James Callaghan).

On a parallel path since the age of 19, Rowan has studied ancient and earth-wise cultures which have significantly influenced her artistic journey. In 1996, she began to explore immersive, earth-based art forms inside of dance movement theatre, which evolved over time into a unique and specific performance process.  Audience inclusion and participation played an extremely important role, and by 1999 all strands merged to serve as foundation for Spiderflower: Earth-Engaged Performance Research. Its purpose has been to create original works devoted to the progressive inquiry of the intelligent relationship between the natural world and human race through the expressive arts.

Continued development over the past 25 years has delivered a comprehensive body of work to include its own repertoire of classes, courses and training that has served both the UK and overseas with particular focus on Sweden.

Through a combination of slow cinema, performance with emphasis on the body as an instrument and interactive events, her current work invites audiences to connect with aspects of their own nature and innate potential as creators by engaging with creation itself.

Currently based in London, UK, Rowan continues to work as a solo artist with national and international focus.
